Devon has been voted one of the top seaside holiday destinations in the UK and it's no wonder why with sandy beaches, shingle beaches and cliff lined beaches galore. We've picked out just a few of our favourites below all within a 30 minute drive from our Resort...

Beer Beach

1. Beer Beach (30 minute drive):

Shingle beach surrounded by limestone cliffs in the heart of the quaint fishing village of Beer.

Exmouth

2. Exmouth Beach (20 minute drive)

Two miles of beautiful golden sandy beach home to lots of rock pools to explore. Exmouth is also a great location to try your hand at some watersports such as kayaking and paddle-boarding!

Dawlish Warren

3. Dawlish Warren Beach (30 minute drive)

A smooth and sandy beach surrounded by sand dunes! Jet skiing and other water sporting is common along Dawlish Warren. Dawlish Warren also offers a stunning coastline walk down to the popular seaside town of Dawlish just 30 minnutes away, home to local shops, food, pubs and arcades.

Jacobs Ladder

4. Jacobs Ladders Beach, Sidmouth (20 minute drive)

One of Sidmouths largest beaches, shelted by a steep cliff face. Home to sand, shingle and rock pools to explore at low tide.

Teingmouth

5. Teignmouth Beach (25 minute drive)

A stretch of sandy beach surrounding the popular seaside town of Teignmouth where you can enjoy crazy golf, play parks and a pier!

Family-friendly walks

Rich with history and waiting to be explored, Devon is home to two national parks; Exmoor and Dartmoor, both within an hour facinity of Crealy so you can explore the views of the county either by foot or bike.

1. Dartmoor (30 minute drive)

Famous for it's Tors, Dartmoor has been a platform for inspiration for many years to some of the country's most renowned authors and poets including the likes of Jane Austen, Agatha Christie and Thomas Hardy. Home to open moorlands, deep river valleys and rare wildlife, it's no wonder why! In the history of Dartmoor also lies a lot of tales of ghosts, witches and dragons for those who are interested by the idea of the supernatural.

2. Exmoor (45 minute drive)

Our second National Park, Exmoor, is also home to high rolling moorland, historic woodland and many rivers and streams. Top things to see include the Tarr Steps, an ancient bridge stretched across a stream and the Valley of the Rocks where you might just see a wild goat if you're lucky!

Delicious Devon Food

If there's anything Devon is famous for it's definitely it's fish and chips, pasties and cream teas. Here we name just a few of our local favourites within 20 minutes of our Resort...

1. Greendale Farm Shop (2 minute drive)

Just a short drive down the road from our Resort, is an award-winning farm shop, cafe and restaurant - Greendale's! A family run business with meat sourced locally from their farms and fresh fish caught by their trawlers, we can honestly say (tried and tested), this is some of the best fish & chips you will come across!

2. River Exe Cafe, Exmouth (20 minute drive)

The River Exe Cafe is one of Exmouth's food gems. Not only famous for their outstanding food, but the gorgeous setting and views. The River Exe Cafe takes pride in being Devon's only floating Gastro restaurant, accessible by water taxi! Sit back and relax while you enjoy fresh, local produce from the very seas surrounding you.

3. Otterton Mill, Buleigh Salterton (15 minute drive)

It wouldn't be a true trip to Devon without a scone, jam and cream and according to the Sunday Times, Otterton Mill is voted one of the best places to grab exactly that! Located close to the picturesque town of Otter, you can walk off your afternoon tea with a lesuirely trip down the River Otter.

4. Clock Tower Cafe, Sidmouth (20 minute drive)

Another place that offers delicious afternoon tea and other homemade treats is the Clock Tower Cafe. Located in a stunning Grade 11 listed building, just minutes away from Jacob's Ladder beach in Sidmouth.

Explore the city of Exeter

Explore Devon's capital city just 15 minutes away from our Resort, rich in History with a cathedral green, tudor style buildings and the free to visit Royal Albert Memorial Museum. It's also home to two shopping centres, Princesshay and Guildhall with all your favourite high street brands, luxury brands and numerous food and drink outlets to choose from.

Our chosen hidden gems are slightly further out from our Resort, but we can promise that they are definitely worth the extra travel time!

Salcombe(2)

1. Salcome (1 hour drive)

The coastal town of Salcombe encapsulates all of the natural beauty that Devon has to offer with its golden, soft sand beaches and clear turquoise seas. Located on an estuary, it's also a perfect haven for lovers of watersports whether you want to try sailing, surfing, paddle boarding or kayaking! Calling all seafood lovers, it's also popular for its crab and is famous for holding its own crab festivals throughout the year.

2. Dartmouth (1 hour drive)

Dartmouth is a stunning harbour town with lots of local festivals, events and markets all year round to entertain the whole family. The town lies on the River Dart and is described as one of South Devon's most enchanting towns, riddled with historic architecture and rolling countryside.

Travel to Devon

Devon is easily accessible by car with our Resort located just minutes off Junction 30 of the M5 motorway. Other travel options include train or flying with our closest airport being Exeter airport.

We've welcomed a new year but we all know that there's still an air of uncertainty about any oversees travel plans this year but this doesn't mean the idea of a holiday in 2021 is just a fantasy. Jump aboard the UK staycation train and enjoy what we are lucky enough to have on our doorstep.
