Why Devon is the perfect destination for family holidays

Devon has always been one of the UK's hot spots for tourism thanks to its beautiful beaches, seaside towns and countryside views. With Crealy situated in the heart of East Devon, we’re lucky enough to be surrounded by all this! Our accommodation lies in the heart of all what Devon has to offer as well as the South West’s Number Day out just around the corner – Crealy Theme Park & Resort. So it’s time to swap out that vacation for a staycation this year and embrace what we’re lucky enough to have right on our doorstep...

Beaches and seaside towns

If there’s one thing we’re not short of in Devon – it’s picturesque seaside towns surrounded by beautiful sandy beaches, overlooked by scenic cliffs. From a stroll along Torquay's palm-lined promenade and Pier to fun in the sun on the sandy beaches of Exmouth or Dawlish Warren, there’s plenty to enjoy within a one hour radius of Crealy Theme Park & Resort. Just 30 minutes from Crealy, lies Beer beach - a quaint fishing village with pebbled beaches, surrounded by boats and sheltered by limestone cliffs. So beautiful, it made the finals of Channel 4's Village of the Year competition.

Or maybe perhaps you want to try surfing? Venture out a bit further to one of the most renowned surfing beaches in the UK - Croyde Bay, highly regarded by surfers for its consistent surf all year round. Don't fancy jumping on the board? Hang out by the rock pools and see what sea life you can find or stroll up the coast to the headland, Baggy Point.

Dartmoor National Park

Our national parks

Rich with history and waiting to be explored, Devon is home to two national parks; Exmoor and Dartmoor, both within an hour facinity of Crealy so you can explore the views of the county either by foot or bike.

Dartmoor, famous for it's Tors (large free standing rocks), has been a platform for inspiration for many years to some of the country's most renowned authors and poets including the likes of Jane Austen, Agatha Christie and Thomas Hardy. Home to open moorlands, deep river valleys and rare wildlife, it's no wonder why! In the history of Dartmoor also lies a lot of tales of ghosts, witches and dragons for those who are interested by the idea of the supernatural....

Our second National Park, Exmoor, is also home to high rolling moorland, historic woodland and many rivers and streams. Top things to see include the Tarr Steps, an ancient bridge stretched across a stream and the Valley of the Rocks where you might just see a wild goat if you're lucky!
