Crealy Theme Park and Resort have created a new and exciting role for a passionate and experienced Head of Attractions to lead the team and deliver safe and fun experiences for all our guests. This is a senior leadership position at the very heart of our day-to-day park operations.
As Head of Attractions, you will provide strategic leadership, oversight, and vision for all guest-facing attractions, including mechanical rides, play areas, and immersive experiences. You’ll work closely with the Rides Manager, Head Of Engineering and other key stakeholders across Operations, Maintenance and HR to ensure the theme park’s attraction offering is safe, efficient, well-staffed, compliant, and guest-focused
This role is crucial in driving operational excellence while ensuring full compliance with UK regulatory frameworks and fostering a culture of safety, innovation, and exceptional service delivery
This role also includes Duty Management responsibilities on a rotational basis
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and deliver the long-term attractions operations strategy, aligned with guest expectations, commercial goals, and park development plans
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives in throughput, guest satisfaction, and safety performance
- Oversee the design and delivery of seasonal operating plans, attraction refurbishment schedules, and ride availability targets
- Act as a senior decision-maker in emergency planning, major incident coordination, and risk management
- Support the Rides Manager in the daily effective running of the department
People Management & Development
- Line-manage the Rides Manager and other senior operational roles within Attractions
- Complete rotas to ensure staffing levels are in line with departmental budgets and operational needs
- Support recruitment, retention, and training strategy for up to 100+ front-line attraction team members
- Champion team engagement and development within the Rides & Attractions department, focussing on a high standard of ride operator training and ongoing coaching to support a high-performance environment
- Uphold a culture of ownership, accountability, and proactive leadership at all levels
Compliance & Safety Oversight
- Ensure all operations comply with applicable legislation, including:
- HSG 175 – Fairgrounds and Amusement Parks
- PUWER – Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations
- Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
- Oversee risk assessments, SOP reviews, and audit processes for all attraction types
- Work closely in partnership with the Engineering/Maintenance Department to optimise ride safety, presentation and performance
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Liaise with cross-functional leaders (e.g. Maintenance, Guest Services, HR, Directors) to deliver joined-up attraction experiences
- Contribute to capital investment plans for new rides, play areas, and guest attractions
- Act as the key point of contact for external inspectors, health and safety audits, and regulatory reviews
- Work alongside relevant departments to offer hands-on support to complete projects, operational action plans and ‘winter-works’ on an ad hoc basis
Budgeting & Administration
- Own and manage the department budget, including staffing, training, and operational costs
- Focus on attractions secondary-spend to meet, and surpass, company revenue targets
- Track and report on performance KPIs (uptime, guest NPS, throughput, compliance, incidents)
- Prepare internal reports and contribute to business planning documentation for senior leadership
Requirements:
Essential
- Minimum 5 years’ management experience in a high-volume, guest-facing attraction or leisure environment
- Proven experience leading multi-layered teams (managers, supervisors, seasonal staff)
- Strong working knowledge of UK ride safety legislation (HSG175, PUWER, LOLER etc)
- Demonstrable experience in operational planning, performance improvement, and compliance
- Excellent leadership, communication, and coaching skills
- Flexible and able to work weekends, bank holidays, and school holidays. Occasional evening work to support private functions and events is also required
Desirable
- IOSH or NEBOSH qualification in health and safety.
- Experience supporting attraction maintenance, installation or refurbishments.
- Familiarity with workforce management and scheduling software.
- First Aid at Work qualification
- SIA Door Supervision License
