Save the Rides

Dear Friend of Crealy,

Thank you to everyone who has already supported the planning applications for two of our favourite, existing rides which the Council are now requiring from us. We are extremely grateful to have already received support from over 400 people so far, but we still need more help.

If you havent already done so, I would be very grateful if you could please click on each of the links below to enter East Devon District Council's online planning comments service and enter your details and comments where asked, clicking on the box informing the authority that you do not object to the planning application. It would also be very helpful if you could also add why you support the application in the comments box.

See our press release here.

To recap, seven years ago, our District Council confirmed to us that we are an Amusement Park and so did not require planning permission for our roller coaster. This is due to Amusement Parks having legal, statutory rights to build rides, kiosks and stalls within a legal "General Permitted Development Order". Since then other rides have been built under this General Permitted Development Order. East Devon District Council has recently told us that they now do not consider that all of Crealy is an Amusement Park and that we need to apply for planning permission for the Victorian Carousel and Tidal Wave Log flume rides. The Council has also asked us to apply for a Certificate of Use as an Adventure Park for the area of Crealy which they now do not consider to be an Amusement Park.

All of the attractions and facilities at Crealy, including our rides, are carefully selected for safety and guest delight - including all environmental issues in line with our aim, since 2000, to become a carbon neutral business. In particular we pay close attention to landscaping, noise control and energy use - and of course to providing Maximum Fun!

It is an unfortunate fact that the only people who normally voice an opinion when a planning application is submitted are a small and disapproving minority. The "silent majority" do not usually make their views heard. To redress any imbalance that may otherwise occur, we invite you to support our 2 applications, so that the Council can serve your interest and that of the wider public.

Many, many thanks for taking the time to read this email and especially if you have already supported us or will take a few moments to do so now.

Yours in appreciation,

Angela Wright
Managing Director, Crealy Great Adventure Parks
