Unique triple tube watercoaster opens end of May
Excitement is building at Devon’s Crealy Great Adventure Park where the UK’s first-ever triple tube water coaster with state-of-the-art special effects will open in May 2010.
To celebrate the attraction’s 21st anniversary, over £1.6 million has been invested in new attractions this year at Crealy Great Adventure Parks in Devon and Cornwall.
Devon’s Crealy is leading the way with new attractions in the region this year. Vortex water coaster is unique within the UK, as no other theme park has a water coaster, which incorporates lighting and sound effects. Vortex is the biggest ride to open at the park since the log flume in 2003.
Angela Wright, MBE, Managing Director of Crealy said, "We are thrilled to announce Crealy's most exciting ride ever, in our 21st anniversary year. We always invest heavily in new attractions and improving our facilities, and this year is no exception. Visitor delight is vital to us and so we really listen to our guests. Our guests have asked for a ride like Vortex and so that is what we have given them!”
Crealy Great Adventure Parks are the most visited family theme park attractions in the South West. The attraction’s other rides were also the first of their kind in the county when they were installed. Crealy’s Tidal Wave remains the only log flume in Devon. Now with a UK first under their belt, Crealy is at the forefront of Devon’s visitor attractions and is highly optimistic about the season ahead.
The lighting and sound effects within the three water coaster tubes of Vortex will create a completely unique and exciting experience for riders. The three tubes are each different with individual effects and speeds. Riders will climb to a height of over 50 feet, before choosing one of the three tube slides. Once inside the Vortex dingy, riders will need to hold on tight as they splash and slide around the water chute of the descending tunnel.
The three tubes have been named Venom, Vertigo and Viper. The two faster tubes, Venom and Vertigo are each 42 metres long and feature ring effects inside the tubes. Viper is the longest at 72 metres. Viper has twists and turns with mulit-coloured lighting and music.
Angela Wright continued, “We know that Crealy is the best place to visit as we’re the only attraction in the world to offer rides, indoor play, animals and outdoor adventures with Magical Fun Guaranteed!
“Our guests and friends of Crealy are so excited about the opening of Vortex! We know from when we opened Tidal Wave log flume, that water rides are hugely popular and Vortex will be no exception! We are delighted to be offering our guests the chance to ride such a unique water coaster. Crealy is the only place in the UK where visitors can ride a water coaster with light and sound effects so we are very excited about the months ahead!”
Vortex is being imported from Dutch water attraction manufacturers Van Egdom, while specialist staff from Devon, Cornwall and Norfolk are employed in creating the complete ride area.
Crealy is investing £1.6m in 2010 in new attractions and facilities at the parks in Devon and Cornwall. The parks have seen increased interest so far this year in their holiday accommodation with the 5 star holiday homes at Cornwall’s Crealy almost fully booked and bookings for every day of the camping season at Devon’s Crealy.
