Neil Parish Conservative MP for Tiverton and Honiton visited Devon’s Crealy Great Adventure Park near Exeter on Tuesday 31st August. Neil Parish MP met with Founder and Managing Director Angela Wright MBE to discuss the benefits to the local economy from the propos
ed introduction of Daylight Saving.
Daylight Saving would mean leaving the clocks where they are in October creating an extra hour of useable daylight. Clocks would then continue to ‘spring forward and fall back’ from then onwards.
Angela Wright MBE, Founder and Managing Director of Crealy Great Adventure Park said, “It was a pleasure to meet with Neil Parish MP and show him around Devon’s leading tourist attraction and to discuss with him the benefits of Daylight Saving to our local economy.
The introduction of Daylight Saving would enable the UK to become greener, saving over 1.2m tonnes of carbon, something that Crealy is passionate about as a company striving to become sustainable, with a keen focus on green issues.”
Angela Wright MBE, continued, “Visitors to Crealy would also benefit by having an extra hour of useable daylight to enjoy even more family fun and magical adventures.”
It has been estimated by the Policy Studies Institute that the growth of earnings to the UK could increase by £3 billion per annum and create a further 60,000 jobs should it be possible to adopt Daylight Saving. The tourism sector including Crealy Great Adventure Park can play a key part in improving the performance of the economy, due to being a sector that has the ability to react swiftly to positive stimulus.
