Green Tourism Business Scheme award displayed at Crealy
One of Devon’s leading tourism attractions, Crealy Great Adventure Park near Exeter is celebrating achieving the Green Tourism Business Scheme award by displaying the coveted plaque for visitors to see.
Crealy recently achieved Silver in the Green Tourism Business Scheme assessment and has displayed the plaque at admissions along with the Park’s Investor in People and Business Challenge awards.
Angela Wright, MBE, Managing Director said, “Crealy is very proud to have been recognised for our environmental achievements. We take our responsibility to environment very seriously and are committed to sustainable tourism, which we believe is vital to the future of the industry as a whole.
“The Green Tourism Business Scheme is a highly respected award and we consider it a real accomplishment. We have been very impressed with the results of our work with The Carbon Trust, Envision and the Devon Environmental Business Initiative in terms of energy saving and staff training.”
The Green Tourism Business Scheme was set up specifically for the tourism industry to promote sustainable tourism. The award allows leading tourism businesses to demonstrate their green credentials to the public through its in-depth accreditation scheme.
Crealy’s Environmental Policy has led to increased recycling and major energy savings, with the Park’s annual
electricity consumption reduced by 10% and water consumption by 15%.
Angela Wright continues, “We know our visitors will appreciate seeing our Green Tourism Business Scheme award as our Guest Survey results show that 97% of our guests support our environmental efforts, particularly our aim to be carbon neutral.”
“We have our own ‘Green Team’ of staff working in conjunction with our Environment Consultants who advise according to the audits they have completed here. We also work closely with our suppliers, many of whom are local to ensure that our efforts encompass the whole business.”
